Sustainability Factors

What makes a smarter city? There are many factors to consider, from those that affect resource use and CO2 emissions, such as energy use, transportation, waste prevention and smart growth to those that affect health and well being, including air quality, water quality, as well as access to affordable housing, fresh produce, green space and transit. The Smarter Cities project explores all these and more, identifying leader cities and cities to watch in each, providing photo essays and videos to showcase best practices and model programs, and maintaining a toolkit to resources for those interested in making their cities smarter.
