1. Where can I find ways to save water at home and in my yard?
There are a number of websites that serve as great resources for tips and tricks to saving water. Our daily activities make a big difference in conserving our most precious resources, especially as regions like the Southeast struggle with an inconstant source of water and regions like Southern California face an ever-shrinking supply.

One useful website for water-saving is H2ouse.org. With a room-to-room guide on how you can save water in your home, information about which appliances are the most water-guzzling, and a garden guide, you should have everything you need to know about saving water at home. Another great site is wateruseitwisely.com. It provides a section for kids and a search tool to find water-saving resources in your city, area or region. The Environmental Protection Agency’s WaterSense provides not only tips and tools but also a seal of approval on third-party-certified water-efficient appliances, a buying guide for new fixtures and a list of available rebates.
2. How do I know whether the water at the beach where we like to swim is safe?
For recent beach closings and information on how to find out if your favorite swimming spot is currently home to unsafe levels of bacteria, see the EPA's Beach Advisory and Closing on-line Notification (BEACON) site and Earth911's Beach Water Quality pages. Also check NRDC's Beachgoer's Water Quality Map for its rating of the healthiness of beaches of your area. Beaches that aren't listed may not be monitored regularly.
