The city maintains an updated directory of recycling centers for hard-to-recycle items throughout the city and area, for everything ranging from diapers to mattresses to carpets to ammunition.

Stockton accepts batteries and motor oil curbside. In 2006, it diverted 67 percent of its waste from the landfill—one of the highest rates in the country.
