Each year, the City of Reno hosts a Green Summit inviting all residents to participate in the city's environmental planning.
In 2008, 275 summit participants reviewed the environmental progress the city had made since the year before and presented to the City Council their recommendations for the next year's actions. Breakout groups addressed such issues as education and green jobs training, transportation and developing plug-in hybrid infrastructure, recycling and increasing curbside pickup, and green building and launching greywater permitting.
