Environmental Standards and Participation

In Minneapolis, all city departments are required to incorporate sustainability guidelines into their business plans through the Environmental Coordinating Team, which was created in 1994 and consists of cross-departmental managers, members of the Citizen's Advisory Committee, and other residents. The Citizen's Environmental Advisory Committee offers environmental advice on policy and implementation, and contains two appointed citizens, two representatives of environmental advocacy groups, two members with technical environmental experience, two representatives of industry and members of the school board.
