In early 2008, Government Fleet magazine named Colorado Springs the country's top municipal user of biodiesel for its fleet. Since 2003, the city has used nearly 1.6 million gallons of Blue Sun Fusion B20 Biodiesel, an ultra-low sulfur fuel of 20 percent oilseed biodiesel, in more than 2,400 city vehicles and equipment. This amount is the equivalent of removing 491 passenger cars from the road or 5 millions pounds of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
