Energy Production and Conservation
Municipal-owned Anaheim Public Utilities offers its customers two green power options, one of which funds the purchase, installation and maintenance of solar panels on the city's public schools, called Sun Power for the Schools. (To date, four schools have installed solar systems.) The other, the Green Power for the Grid program, supports the city's purchase of renewables, which includes small hydroelectric, biomass, wind and most recently, geothermal energy. Currently, the city gets 7 percent of its energy from renewables; it expects to reach 20 percent by 2015.
